Summer School “A Week in Uzbekistan”

Theme: Culture, Ecology, and History of Uzbekistan

Location: Tashkent with trips to Samarkand and Bukhara

Event Program

Day 1:

• Arrival in Tashkent, airport reception, and transfer to the guesthouse
• Check-in and lunch
• Introductory tour of Tashkent
• Dinner and free time

Day 2:

• Breakfast at the guesthouse (07:00 – 08:00)
• Lecture on the history and culture of Uzbekistan (10:00 – 12:00)
• Lunch at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (12:30 – 13:30)
• Walk around Tashkent’s historical sites (14:00 – 17:00)
• Dinner at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (18:00 – 20:00)

Day 3:

• Breakfast at the guesthouse (07:00 – 08:00)
• Lecture on the ecology of Uzbekistan (10:00 – 12:00)
• Lunch at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (12:30 – 13:30)
• Free time or cultural activities (14:00 – 17:00)
• Dinner at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (18:00 – 20:00)

Day 4:

• Breakfast at the guesthouse (07:00 – 08:00)
• Trip to Samarkand by minibus, tour of major landmarks: Registan, Gur-Emir Mausoleum, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Siab Bazaar (09:30 – 12:30)
• Lunch at a local café (12:30 – 13:30)
• Transfer to Bukhara (14:00 – 17:00)
• Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and rest (18:00 – 20:00)

Day 5:

• Breakfast at the hotel (07:00 – 08:00)
• Tour of Bukhara’s historical sites: Lyabi-Hauz complex, Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah, Kalyan Minaret, Bukhara Ark, Samanid Mausoleum, and Chor-Minor (09:30 – 17:30)
• Lunch at a local café (13:00 – 14:00)
• Return to Tashkent (18:00 – 22:00)
• Dinner at a national restaurant en route (20:00 – 21:00)

Day 6:

• Breakfast at the guesthouse (07:00 – 08:00)
• Cultural activities: master classes on national cuisine and music, ecological master class on traditional crafts (09:30 – 12:30)
• Lunch at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (13:00 – 14:00)
• Free time for shopping and relaxation (14:30 – 17:30)
• Dinner at a national or, if needed, European restaurant (18:00 – 20:00)

Day 7:

• Breakfast at the guesthouse (07:00 – 08:00)
• Closing ceremony and certificate awarding (10:00 – 11:00)
• Transfer to the airport (12:00 – 14:00)

Accommodation and Dining Conditions

• Accommodation in 3-star guesthouses in Tashkent (2-3 people per room) and in a hotel in Bukhara
• Two daily meals (lunch and dinner) in national or, if needed, European restaurants

Additional Conditions

• Sports activities are not provided
• Knowledge of Russian is welcome but not mandatory
• Additional excursions available upon request
• Participants will receive a certificate for active participation in events and lectures
• Insurance is included whenever possible

Participation Fee

USD 600

The fee includes:

• Accommodation in guesthouses (2-3 people per room) and in a hotel in Bukhara
• Two daily meals (lunch and dinner) in national or, if needed, European restaurants
• All excursions and lectures mentioned in the program
• Transportation costs (including minibus trips)
• Airport transfers
• Participation certificate
• Insurance when possible

Visa Support

If a visa is required, we will provide the necessary letters to the embassy for visa issuance.

Refund Policy

• Full refund if participation is canceled no later than 30 days before the program start date
• 50% refund if participation is canceled no later than 15 days before the program start date
• No refund if canceled less than 15 days before the program start date, except in cases of force majeure
